Sparkling April
By: Vanscoy Diamonds
Possibly the most perfect gemstone, the hardest substance found in nature, an emblem of strength and the symbol of love…the diamond…and the birthright to those born in April. Whether pink, yellow, green, blue, red, purple, orange or black, the diamond is awe-inspiring strength.
It captivates the eye as it sparkles in the light and signifies beauty, invincibility and good fortune. Diamonds are magic. A gift of diamonds is worth a thousand unspoken words.
History
Derived from the Greek word adamas, which means invincible. Diamonds were first mined in India with descriptions dating back to 4th century BC. Though diamonds started appearing in European jewelry in the 13th century, it wasn’t until the 16th century that they became more prominent and it would be the 18th century before diamonds dominated jewelry. At the time the sparkling gems were worn mostly by women and only in the evening, as it was considered ill mannered to parade the jewels during the day.
Times certainly have changed and today diamond rings, necklaces, earrings and bracelets are worn day or night, casual or formal.
Healing
If a sense of healing comes over you when wearing diamonds, you may not be imagining it. Along with bringing balance and clarity to those who wear them, it was believed in the Middle Ages that diamonds could help draw out toxins from the body. Whether real or folklore, every woman knows that special feeling when donning a diamond.
Birthstone
Diamonds are a symbol of courage and those born in April, under the sign of Aries, are said to be strong, independent and leaders. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac and are known for taking charge and getting things going. Full of energy, charm and charisma, Aries are bold and aggressive and unafraid to take on the opposition for a cause they believe in. If your beloved is an Aries, choose bold jewelry and diamond pieces that represent her one of a kind personality.
