My Daughter’s First Diamond Jewelry
By: Vanscoy Diamonds
My wife and I usually see eye to eye on most things, but there was sure to be disagreements when it came to raising our daughter. Most of the time, they would become her saying she knew what it was like to be a girl and me saying I knew what boys thought about girls. I’m not saying I wanted to lock her a nunnery while my wife tried to get her on “Toddlers and Tiaras,” but let’s just say I was the more conservative of the two. More often than not, my wife won, but when it came to diamond jewelry, she conceded to me.

We compromised early when it came to my daughter getting pierced ears. I was okay with that, but thought she was too young for diamond earrings. As she grew older, we would get her nice pieces of fashion jewelry – nothing too expensive, but certainly good looking stuff that she could be proud of. Every so often, my wife would bring up the subject of diamond jewelry, but I just wasn’t quite ready.
My daughter turns 13 next month, and in the fall, she will be starting High School. My wife thought this would be the perfect time to move on to diamond jewelry. She is going to be a teenager and start the next big chapter in her life. I had to admit, my wife made sense, but I still didn’t know what the right piece of jewelry would be. Diamond earrings still seemed too old to me, and a diamond necklace was something that my wife said she wouldn’t want to wear that often. That was when she mentioned a diamond tennis bracelet.
It had actually been my daughter who first brought it up. She said she liked the way they looked, the fact that they were beautiful without being flashy, and that not too many other girls she knew who wore jewelry wore diamond bracelets. That made me feel comfortable, knowing that my daughter wanted something for herself and not because everyone else was doing it. So my wife and I went out and found what we hope is the perfect diamond bracelet. Still, if too many boys start complimenting her on it, I’m going to look into that nunnery.
