Status Symbol
Status and power, metals like gold are used by people to define themselves. Gold is a symbol of prestige. The use of gold dates back to ancient Egypt when the Egyptians considered gold to be a symbol of the sun and therefore the perfect metal. Gold is associated with wealth, vitality, radiance, authority, self-confidence and wisdom.

Precious Cargo
Whether you wear a small token made of gold, such as a floating heart on a chain, or a larger statement piece, such as a bold bangle bracelet or chunky necklace, taking care of your gold jewelry properly can help it to last a lifetime. Here are some basic Do’s and Don’ts of caring for gold jewelry.
DO put makeup on ahead of jewelry. Various types of cosmetics and hair care items can affect the appearance of your jewelry by dirtying and dulling the surface. Items like foundation, leave in conditioners, hair spray and lotions should be applied with your rings and earrings off. Wash your hands thoroughly with a gentle cleaner, and dry with a clean towel, before slipping your fingers into your gold rings.

DO spare your precious metals from detergents and cleaners. Removing your jewelry while you are cleaning the house, doing laundry, gardening or washing the dishes can help to keep your gold trinkets shining bright. The same goes for swimming pools that use chlorine, which can dull the surface of precious metals, turning the surface from fab to drab. Keep your jewelry safe by removing it before swimming.
DON’T use bleach or bleach products to clean your jewelry. A harsh chemical, bleach can be destructive to your precious gold jewelry. Instead, rinse the jewelry in warm water; avoid hot water, keep the temperature to lukewarm. Use cleaners that are specifically made for jewelry care. Purchase a jewelry polishing cloth to polish your rings, earrings, necklaces, pendants, bracelets and brooches. Avoid polishing precious metals with paper towels, which can scratch and damage the surface.
DON’T forget to regularly inspect your jewelry for damages. Catching damage early can help to prevent the problem from escalating and will likely help you to preserve your precious cargo.
