A Special Ring For A Special Woman

If you ever want to feel a bit intimidated, walk into a jewelry store and look at the selection of diamond engagement rings you have to choose from. If you don’t know what you’re looking for, you can feel overwhelmed. Plus there’s the whole “got to get it right on the first try” thing going on. I mean, any other gift I buy I can return for the right one, but this is pretty much permanent. Still, it was time to shop for diamond engagement rings, so I made sure I went into the store with a plan.

Part A of the plan was to not do much research ahead of time. I know that sounds counterproductive – surely it would help to have some kind of sense what type of engagement ring I was looking for – but I felt that the more bridal rings I looked at without having much knowledge on how or why they were priced the way they were would only add to my confusion. I figured I would see plenty of diamond engagement rings the minute I walked into the jewelry store.
I was right, and that led immediately to Part B of the plan: when the sale associate asked if he or she could help, I was going to reply “Yes, I need a special engagement ring for a special woman.” I knew they must hear that a lot, but if I said it with enough conviction, they might be encouraged to show me some truly unique diamond engagement rings.
Well, I must have because once she was done laughing, she showed me exquisite engagement rings I never would have imagined. I thought that all the diamond rings would be variations on the same theme, but there were pear shaped diamonds, rings with a center diamond surrounded by several much smaller diamond chips, even rings made from titanium, platinum and stainless steel.
The good part about her showing me this collection of diamond engagement rings was that it kept me from feeling overwhelmed. Only having to choose from between a few helped me make what I felt was the right decision, a feeling that was confirmed for me the minute she saw the ring and said “Yes.”
